[Machi snaps out of her trance and turns to the boy, surprised. She tilts her head and looks at him cautiously. He didn't seem to be dangerous, but looks were deceiving and she decides to keep her distance from him.]

[She does not smile back, but she does as she's told and picks up four flowers for him. For the sake of getting rid of the flowers, as there were far too many in her home as it is, she decides to give him a discount.]

[Hatsuharu said as he happened to be walking by. He liked going for walks to clear his head, and it didn't look like many people were buying, so he wanted to be of some help.]

[She gingerly picks up a couple of flowers between her fingers from her basket, and offers them to him. It was rather late, and worried that they weren't so fresh anymore; that they were "damaged goods," she decides to give the man a discount.]

[Justin, cursed physically if not mentally, has been wandering the streets, looking very at home. He could easily pass for an aspiring poet or a mildly lost student. The street he's on now isn't as bright as flashy as some of the others; it's gray... melancholy. Beautiful in its own right. He doesn't recognize the girl selling flowers, but her beaten demeanor keeps him from walking by.]

[He stops in front of her and pulls out several coins--more than the flowers cost, but he has little enough use for money. Justin addresses the girl in relatively fluent French.]

Ah... That's too much... [Machi looks at him blankly. He seemed to take more coins than needed, but as her boss has always told her, the customer is always right. Working her way through the flowers in her basket, she manages to pick the three freshest looking flowers within seconds and offers them to him.]

[He exchanges the coins for the flowers. They're not perfect; perhaps they were picked a while ago, or maybe the street's oppressive atmosphere damaged them. Symbolic? Likely.]

[She takes a few more flowers and places them into his arms, after looking at the coins. The amount should even out now, or so she hoped. She never really liked owing people anything, even for gifts, she felt that she needed to pay them back somehow.]
