When I was ten months old, my family moved to Princeton for a year and a half. And as I found out at lunch today, while we were there, my parents encountered a certain species of locust. I think that it is 17 years. I heard on NPR that a 17 year cycle is perfect for the reason that it is one of only a few numbered cycles that almost NEVER coincides with other numbered cycles. This means that while on a 17 year cycle, and practically only on a 17 year cycle, the locusts breed as predator free as godly possible.

Of course! After all, a battle like that just has to be of epic proportions, and to do that you need as many people as possible.
