Won't someone please think of the grammar?

Trader Joe's has removed the grammatically correct "15 items or fewer" sign. Admittedly the new sign has a pirate hand holding a cutlass, but in my book, proper grammar ranks higher than cutlasses. (But maybe not very much higher.)

Maybe this is not the time to admit that I had no idea about the whole less vs. fewer chaos... oops.

I didn't actually know the rules of less vs. fewer until recently, either. And given that it's one of those bizarre, tricksy rules, I generally don't waste my energy getting upset when people get it wrong. But when a store switches a sign that was grammatically correct for one that isn't...well, that's worth at least mild annoyance.
