Back in the land of the living

Feb 20, 2006 13:05

Following the wind storm on Friday and Saturday, I am pleased to say that my power (it was only out for a few hours), Internet, cable, and telephone are finally all back. Whatever I did to entertain myself prior to the dawn of the World Wide Web and Comedy Central is beyond me... I must've... read (!) or something. Nonetheless, JG and I survived ( Read more... )

Oh WOW! You were so lucky that you got power back right away! When I read the news about that storm, it just so happened that it was at 1am on Saturday night (or is that Sunday Morning?), and I freaked, especially since people died in that storm. 132 mph-winds is ten miles per hour faster than Wilma's sustained winds were when she struck Cell Block 6544. Either way, I'm glad you're OK... and enjoying yet another LOVELY random bank holiday! But again: I'm really sorry I bothered you so late.

And with God as my witness, if I ever manage to pull the Cassandra and Sybil protocol out of my ass brain and manage to somehow produce it into a real animated series (which is a mental masturbation of mine), it shall be aired on Comedy Central... Just for you! :P ( ... )

Doesn't really matter either way--we have a backup generator. BUT at least we didn't have to stress about it. Seriously, I don't remember the last time the power went out--it's *that* rare in my neighborhood.

No worries, yo! I was seriously up anyway--I had company over, and it was fun to hear from you! :P It's *never* a bother, woman!

Yes! Holy holiness! That would be bloody famazing!

you almost sacraficed the release of HBP to go to his birthday party
No shit! I sacrificed stalking Jason *soon* Isaacs for that boy! :P JG said she asked him to make sure I was on the guest list and he and J already had put me on, so it was nice to know that I wasn't a second-pick guest or anything.

22 days, woman! :DI KNOW! I'm FUTARDEDLY excited! My suitcase is already set up and a couple items have already been ( ... )

LOL!!! I *LOVE* your new icon collection!!! I want to molest Brody in your new default one. He's a stud!

Backup Generators are a pain in the arse. Thanks to FEMA, we now have two. One that broke, and one that we got for free. Alas, you are lucky. Every time God has a bad case of Avocado-induced flatulence, my power goes out. There are too many untrimmed trees in my neighborhood, as you will soon find out.

YAY!!! :D Last time I heard from you at a random hour was the opening night of GOF. And likewise, it *is* fun! (I FEEL SO LOVED)

Thanks! Though getting the rights to use Severus, et all will be bloody hemmoragic murder. Who knows, though? He's a literary figure just like Peter Pan and Oliver Twist. So if Animaniacs can parodize every figure in literary and motion picture history (just because they had Steven Spielberg for an executive ( ... )

lol! take a number, woman! adrien's all m-i-n-e! :P but i'm glad you like the icon. it was my compulsion to finally pay tribute to my favorite american actor in my lj that inspired the overhaul of my icons.

yeah, so i'm developing all these grandiose plans for the adventures of cassie and syb! I'm thinking comic books or kids books. it would be bloody hilarious! and if jo doesn't feel like leasing sev out to you, then you could *totally* rip him off and make up a blatantly obvious parody of him (like in the 'barry trotter' books, in which his name is 'severe snipe' or something like that--it's been a while since i've read them).

Miami is upscale, but not to the extent that LA or NY are. whew! i was an ickle bit worried i'd have to replace my wardrobe. how warm is it usually in mid-March? obviously i don't want to bring my big, bulky, frump-land sweaters, but it's probably still a wee bit too chilly for ( ... )

Hooray for you! I shall 'hold my thumbs' for you on the interview with the British Publishing Company. That is very exciting.

Would you give the link to your stories archiving location? I would love to read it.

Wine does seem like a very good solution to power outages. One can only have just so many emergency lights. If your heat isn't gas and relies upon electricity the urge to remain awake is less.

Your ability to write so many words is inspirational.

Thanks! The commute is bit longer than I'm accustomed to, but the pay and benefits at this company are vastly superior to my current position, so I'm willing to try it if it is offered to me. Plus, I wouldn't mind working for a company with branches in Edinburgh and Oxford, as it has long been a dream of mine to move to the UK--I was sure to tick off 'yes' on the application when asked if I'd be willing to relocate! :)

I'd be happy to give you the link, but I want to warn you first that the story ('Dark Things') is slash. I hope that doesn't offend you. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll be sure to post the link/promote the site.

Wine does seem like a very good solution to power outages. *giggles* Wine is a very good solution to so many of life's little blunders! :) We rarely lose power in my neighborhood, so it was a bit surprising; however, had the outage lasted longer than a few hours, we would've been prepared--we have ( ... )

We had terrific winds on Friday. The week earlier we had snow, about eight inches. I was worried about a storm when my sister is so ill, that she would be unable to get out to her doctors and such. Luckily the snow did not stay very long. I put some photos of the snow here on my journal last week. It really is pretty ( ... )

I love your fics. Just love them! But original fiction? That is just wonderful! I'll buy your book even if I'll have to cross the Atlantic to do so!
*Sending positive thoughts regarding the interview*

Awwwwww! Thanks! That's so sweet of you (on both counts)!!! It really means a lot to me that so many people (online and in 'real life') are being so supportive of my latest venture--the support keeps me on track--I love it! :)

I hope all is well with you--how is your own job search going?

No responses yet, but it's a little early. Some of these companies (especially the large ones) take their time going through the applications, and some of the deadlines aren't until the end of March. I'll always have something, but I'm getting tired of temping now.
