I like the idea of never being told what the final 'doom' of man is. It's a great story device to leave something unsaid.

So many of my stories were inspired by (or included references to) how the Powers sang all of Arda into being. Thinking back, that concept may have been what drew me into The Silmarillion when I first discovered it.

It's a beautiful idea, isn't it? Tolkien writes like poetry. I am drawn to Silmarillion in same way and also his relationships between elves are so complex in the 1st age.
