Panic at the Disco (& the Cab, etc) @ the Prudential Center, 11/02/08

Nov 03, 2008 20:14

YESTERDAY'S SHOW WAS AWESOME, but I went through several hardships before I got there. Here is my long and tedious story, along with some really good pictures (I was on the barrier, almost smack in the middle, so yeah. GREAT PIX).

I woke up at 5 in the morning. I was in MUCH PAIN. It was just awful. But somehow I managed to drag myself out of bed, get dressed, throw on some makeup, and trudge all the way to the bus stop. The bus must have come really early, because I was watching from all the way down the street and I didn't see it. I got there on time and everythang. Anyway, I got the next bus at 6:14, and I was on my merry(ish) way.

I got on the F train at 6:30, which was right on schedule. Except, it didn't start moving til 6:45 so i was freaking out a little. I figured the ride would be about an hour (perhaps less) and I was supposed to meet Jen & Jenny (lolololol confusing) at Penn Station at 7:30.

BUT IT WAS SORT OF ON TIME. But then I got lost. Long story short, we had a little less time than I was hoping. But we got our NJ Transit tickets and boarded the train. It was only a 20 minute ride, which, PRAISE JESUS. The walk wasn't bad either.

So we get there at around 8:30 and we're walking around the Prudential Center and we don't see any sign of life. Finally we see two girls sitting in a corner by one of the entrances... so we walk over to them and we're like, "Are you here for Panic?" and they say "Yep," and we say, "...are we seriously the second ones here?" and they say, "Yep."

LOL WE WERE THE SECOND ONES THERE. We waited there for a while, but then we decided to check the other entrance and sure enough a few more people turned up over there. We were still second on line though.

The waiting spot was in the shade and we were FREEZING OUR ASSES OFF. It was SO COLD. A few girls were gonna go drive to Target to buy shit, and I gave one of them $10 and told her to buy me a nice blanket. They didn't come back for three hours though--apparently Target was pretty far away. DX

We waited and waited. Eventually someone brought up that there were two separate GA sections: back GA and front GA. We didn't know the difference. And I was like WHAT. So I looked at my ticket and it said "back GA" and I was like D: because what if that meant I COULDN'T GET TO THE FRONT?

We didn't know what it meant for a long time, but eventually we were told that that was indeed the case. It turned out that there was a section about halfway back that was all blocked off, and if you had back GA you had to go in there. I was like "HALE NAW" because I got there at 8:30am goddamnit, and who the fuck separates the GA section? GA MEANS GENERAL ADMISSION. IF YOU HAVE GA, IT'S FIRST COME FIRST SERVED SPOT-WISE. I was pissed as HALE.

Emmy got there at like one and I was happy. We hugged a lot, and snuggled :D Here's some pix from the line:

Camwhoring.

That's the blanket I bought hahaha. It's so fruity.

Me and Emmy. :D

Jen being a complete fool. And that's Roro, who I love, and I will tell you why later.

lol

So after a while me and Jenny decided that we weren't gonna take this Back GA shit lying down. I ended up trading with Roro for her front GA ticket (hence why I love her) and here's vaguely how that came about:

-Emmy had Meet & Greet
-She didn't want it because
-(a) she wanted barrier and m&g would prevent her from getting it
-(b) she had already met them
-Roro had to leave the show at 9:00 and Panic wouldn't go on until like 9:45 so there was no point in her getting barrier
-Roro wanted to meet Panic
-Emmy decided she would give Roro her M&G
-Roro decided she would trade tix with me if this worked out
-We found Zack and he allowed Emmy to give her M&G to Roro
-I was VERY HAPPY.

WHEW. It gave me a huge headache though, let me tell you. I thought I wasted hours of my life standing out in the cold. Jenny wasn't able to trade though D:

So about an hour and a half before the show, this amazing lady came outside and told us that she knew we were all waiting all day, and that she really appreciated us etc. So she said that the first 25 people or so on the line would get to MEET ALL FOUR BANDS. we were like OMG because Jen & Jenny & I were the 5th 6th & 7th people. OMG. So we got our wristbands and went inside, and Zack told us the rules and we went up the escallator.

We formed a single file line and all the bands came out and sat at the little tables. Ryan wasn't there and neither was Ian from the Cab but whatever, everyone else was.

The Plain White Ts were first and Panic was second so I didn't have time to like, COMPOSE myself. We didn't have anything for them to sign... I was considering having them sign my blanket which I was holding, but they had posters. Jen had Panic sign her Hinduism notes lmfao. But I'll get to that in a minute.

So the drummer from the Plain White Ts asked Jen how she was and she was like "NICE AND WARM" and he asked how long we were out there and she said since 8:30 and he was like O_O WHY. And we told him we want a good spot, and to be able to breathe. And I was like "LOOK FOR ME ON THE BARRIER!" and he was like "I WILL!" That band was very friendly. The lead singer asked me if my shirt was Cobra Starship and I was like "HELLS YES IT IS."

THen I saw Panic at the table and I was like omg. And I felt the blood rushing to my face, it was fucking crazy. Spencer Smith was making me BLUSH. And he wasn't even looking at me yet.

Jen handed him her HIndusim notes (the blank side) but Spencer was like "WHAT'S THIS" and turned it over. Jen said, "My Hinduism notes... I have a test tomorrow." And Spencer was like, "Wow, that's so cool that you're taking Hinduism!" and I think he wished her good luck on her test. I was like OMG OMG OMG. He signed my shit and we moved on. Jon signed my poster while Jen was talking to Brendon about what time we got there, so I was kind of distracted and I felt bad later. :( But Jon Walker looked me in the eye and said hello to me and I was like FJDAKJFEA;JSIEAJIJEFAFJKADNFJAJDFIANSDLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in my brain because I might have a huge gigantic ridiculous crush on him, but I just blushed and said hello back.

Brendon DISTRACTED me from having a proper conversation with JWalk because he was like "WOW SINCE 8:30 HUH?" and I was like "Yeah... that's why I'm holding this ridiculous blanket." But he was smiling at us and said, "Thanks for getting here so early guys!" and I said, "Thank YOU for playing a show for us!" and that was that. HE WAS SO SWEET AND ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FJAFKKJAKLJAKLJFSDKLJDSF LOL I MET PANIC AT THE DISCO.

Dashboard were whatever. I didn't know anything about them and they just all said hi.

Then the Cab. Hahaha. Jen was complaining to Johnson about how they were signing a poster that was mostly BLACK and Cash was like, "What they don't realize is that it's white when you turn it over!" and he showed us, and I was like, "then why aren't you signing THAT side?" and they were like "LOL I DUNNO" Someone asked me if I wanted them to sign the white side (I think it was Cash? I don't remember) and I was like "no, that's okay, she's the picky one not me!"

When I got up to Marshall I was like "MARSHALL DO YOU REMEMBER ME?" and he looked at me really hard and was like, "You look really familiar..." and I was like, "It's okay, we talked for a while outside the NYC show" and he asked me who they were playing with and I said The Hush Sound and I think he might have remembered me a little bit. We were talking for at least 10 minutes, I HOPE he remembered.

ANYWAY YES THAT'S MY STORY.

Those poster shits are going on my dorm room wall, fuck yes. Maybe my walls will be less depressing then.

So, and here's the best part: we were guaranteed to get back to our proper places on line after the meet and greet, so we expected to be led outside.

But no.

We were allowed to stay INDOORS. It was GLORIOUS. And so so nice. While we waited the last hour I chatted with some fellow fans. I heard some interesting stories and learned some interesting information that simultaneously freaked me out and pleased me. lol I'm such a freak.

FINALLY it was time. The lady who put on my GA bracelet was so confused though, and had no idea what the fuck she was doing. It took WAY too long. I should have been the 5th person in, but instead I was like the 10th. BUT WHATEVER. I was pretty much right in the middle, but slightly to Jon's side, and life was FUCKING AWESOME. I love barrier. So, so much. This marks my 5th time on barrier, and I never want to go back. If I can help it.

The traditional pit picture.

The first band was Lights Resolve, the guys who won the Battle of the Bands thing I went to. They were actually really good.

DOESN'T HE LOOK LIKE MIKEY WAY?

THE CAB

One of THOSE Nights
Risky Business
That '70s Song
I'll Run
Can You Keep A Secret?
Bounce

I THINK. I may have missed one. They might have played High Hopes in Velvet Ropes.

Cash kept going in front of me so I got a lot of close-up pix of him.

Wow, I got pictures of him making such normal faces.

Marshall was so anti-social on stage lmfao.

IAN CAN SHRED LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS. He's way too good for the Cab.

Silly Marshall, playing guitar for ONE SONG.

I WANT TO TOUCH HIS HAIR SO BADLY.

There's the Cash face we know and love.

lol Singer mugged for the cameras a lot.

HHAHAHAH

I really enjoyed their set. They're definitely very good performers, Singer's an amazing front man, and they have great stage presence. I was entertained all through their set, even last time I saw them when I didn't know their music. They're gonna go places. Also, Brendon came out and sang for SOME SONG, I don't remember which, but I know it wasn't One of THOSE Nights.

THE PLAIN WHITE TS

Take Me Away
Hey There Delilah
A bunch of others I didn't know

Their set was fun and energetic. I'm not a fan of their music, but I was entertained anyway. I can safely say that this concert had one of the least painful line of openers haha. Like, they didn't all sound the same for once (like with Cobra... argh). Also, I found the vocalist charming in a very dorky way. He was pretty much a dweeb.

DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL

Don't Wait
Vindicated
Screaming Infedelities
A whole bunch of others I didn't know

Carabbababababababa

I am not a fan of this band by any stretch of the imagination, but I was entertained nevertheless. It was a long set so I did space out a bit towards the end (...I spent whole songs thinking about Fall Out Boy) but whatever, it's all good. They got Marshall and Ian to play with them when they did that Pink cover (which was hilar). Also, I was so surprised that I knew all the words to Vindicated. I listened to the Spiderman 2 soundtrack SO MUCH in like, 8th grade haha. It reminded me of how me and my brother would make fun of that song whenever it went on TV. I'd be like "HOPE! DANGLES ON A STRING! LIKE SLOW SPINNING REDEMPTION! WINDING IN AND WINDING OUT! THE SHINE OF WHICH HAS CAUGHT HIS EYE! AND ROPED HIM IN SO! MESMERISING AND! HYPNOTIZING! HE IS! CAPTIVATED! HE IS! VINDICATED..." Except I'd be talking not singing, and I'd say each line slightly before him. Yeah you get the point. Basically I'm hilarious.

PANIC AT THE DISCO

We're So Starving
She's A Handsome Woman
Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off
When the Day Met the Night
The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage
That Green Gentleman
Camisado
But It's Better if You Do
Northern Downpour
I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Mad As Rabbits
Shout

? I feel like I'm forgetting something. I was pretty annoyed at the set because they didn't play a lot of my favorite songs (Build God, Tables, Nails for Breakfast, Behind the Sea, Pas De Cheval, I Have Friends In Holy Spaces...) but ehh. It was a lot of fun regardless.

I had to take a pic of the amps (yes, those polka-dotted things are amps) because they were the fruitiest thing I had seen all day. And I had seen a lot of fruity things that day.

JON WALKERRRRR!!!!!!!!!

It was really hard to get a good picture of Spencer :(

Brendon, on the other hand... haha

Ugh no, okay, how much do I love this man.

Hell yes. This needs no caption.

I can't believe the quality of these pix omg

Jwalk is so awesome he stuns my camera into disfunction.

Okay, you all know by now that I am a Jon Walker kind of girl, but I have to admit that Ryan is incredibly photogenic. It's RIDICULOUS. This man is beautiful.

HHAHAH Oh Bden.

Bden's eyeball exploded obviously.

AHMAGAD

lololol

AND THAT'S THAT.

Again, their set was disappointing song-wise but I really enjoyed it. The energy was great, Brendon was on FIAH, and yeah. Awesome. Jon was kind of in his own little world, but I think he always is. Whenever he had to sing he got this adorable CONCENTRATION face on, and I was like OMG JWALK MARRY ME.

Ryan has a staring problem. He really does. When he looks at you, he doesn't look away for at least ten seconds, and if you smile at him he'll smile back and it'll be all awkward and shit. He did this to me like THREE TIMES and I was like RYAN, GOD.

Brendon was amazing and hilarious during Shout. He makes me laugh so much ohmygod. "And if you're like, my hips can't do that because I am ten years old..." hahahaha

I took some time to watch Spencer drumming, and he's craaazy. I was kind of gazing at him a little bit. I was gazing at Jon A LOT though haha. I actually had my chin propped up in my hand and I found myself making eyes at him. JON WALKERRR.

Basically yeah, this band is just precious as all hell and I love them. This was my fourth time seeing them and A+, would come again.

Afterwards we considered waiting around, but we kind of didn't want to miss our train. We were dead tired and whatnot, so yeah. Lawwwdy. It was amazing though.
