Doctor Who 6.1 Reaction Post

Oh my wizard god.

Let me just start this out by saying I wasn't too incredibly impressed with the last season. It was interesting, and I love Amy, but in terms of writing I definitely preferred Russell T. Davies to Steven Moffat. There were times when Series 5 was just way too overly complicated and a bit difficult to follow.

Anyway. Series 6 definitely delivers. At least so far.

I think "The Impossible Astronaut" may be one of my most favorite Doctor Who episodes, ever. I just...I am having trouble forming words. First of all, I loved River Song in this episode. Throughout Series 5 I hadn't really been a fan of her, but this ep may have swayed me. The speech she gave Rory was beautiful and heartbreaking and I'm really, really hoping we'll learn a lot more about her relationship with the Doctor in this series.

While I'm definitely hopping on the Doctor/River ship, it's clear that Amy has feelings for the Doctor and I'm wondering how that's going to come into play. I can't help wondering about the end of the episode. She tells him she's pregnant--I'd assume the baby was Rory's since they're now married, but why did she say it was so important that the Doctor knows?

THERE'S NO WAY IT COULD BE HIS, RIGHT?

Nahhh.

ALSO, I don't think that Amy was feeling sick solely because she was pregnant, because River experienced the same feeling after she saw the Silent and then forgot them. Some people have been saying this could be because River's pregnant too, but imho I don't think that's the case. I think the sickness is just an effect of seeing the Silent, and then forgetting. Reasons being? The woman in the bathroom who saw it was killed shortly after, and Rory was attacked very soon after seeing them as well. Amy's and River's sickness didn't come on until awhile after they first saw the Silent. The second wave of Amy's sickness can be explained by her pregnancy, though.

I think I'm going to go back and watch this again, and then come back and write more.
