>> And here I am, ever at your access. :P

what were her parents thinking when they were watching her?

Career tribute. Her parents wanted her to win, and for all they know, she could be putting on a show for them. After all, the games are full of actors, in a way. She could be playing for a sponsor who was blood thirsty, and the longer it takes to kill someone, the better. I can't imagine her parents "wanting" that for her, but if it makes them rich, what would they care?

You describe District 12 as I see it in my head. Have you looked up any drafted maps? Here's one I found of Panem! But not much on 12 alone. I really think it's as you say, dear. Very small, squished together, everyone knows everyone sort of place.

How's that tickle your nerdy-ness? XD

It just makes me wonder about what kinds of people they are. The Career tributes actually seemed to enjoy killing, from what I could tell. They team up for the pleasure of taking out as much competition as they can before turning on each other. But I'm sure whoever her sponsor was told her to play up the ruthless act. She and Cato both.

I kind of ship them sometimes. Hee.

I've looked at a lot of drafted maps. I hadn't seen that one, but this one is amazingness. District 12 is actually a bit bigger than I pictured it in this one though. But if District 12 is that small, it makes me wonder how much land District 11 covers in comparison. Katniss calls it huge, and I guess a lot of land is needed to grow all that food.

I guess I just want an official map, goshdangit.

Cato and Clove? Oh I could totally see that. *ships in a box* Some graphic blood and cutting fetish ftw. xD Just kidding, but maybe not! (For a second I thought you meant Clove and Katniss... I was like damn *_*)

D: All the maps are mainly of Panem or Peeta's map of win. *breaks out a leaf*

11 has to be huge. Agriculture takes up plenty of real estate, and they are kind of feeding the country. Then you add the sea food from 4 and ta daaa! Which makes me wonder how much of district 4 is land. AND! Just thought of it. How do they manage to contain that district? Is the water fenced in? Do they open it once in a while to allow more marine life to enter?

What do you think, love?

Yes. Cato/Clove vicious hate!sex for the win. lol. I've seriously contemplated writing fanfic, ngl. Ew, Clove and Katniss. Nooo.

What's Peeta's map of win? The one from the Quarter Quell that he drew on the beach?

I think 11 is probably the biggest one there is. It's probably even bigger than the Capitol. And, I kind of imagined District 4 to be entirely coastal...So, maybe on the west coast or the edges of Arizona, Texas, and that area. That might be a bigger district too. But the fence is probably on the land side...I don't know how they would close in the water.

I think if it's a choice to watch your child become a ruthless killer or watch them ruthlessly be killed, most parents would want the former even though it's still pretty awful. And it seems to me that people from the career districts, like District 2, are brought up to think that killing during the Hunger Games is something good. That it's something to be lauded and celebrated. The morals of the world of the HG are not the morals of today ( ... )

The morals of the world of the HG are not the morals of today. You know, though, I've been reading a lot of really good essays--disturbing, sometimes, but good--about how the reality shows we see today are really not so far removed from the Hunger Games. I mean, no one's getting killed for entertainment, but people are still being demeaned, humiliated, and tried emotionally. The drama and the stress on its contestants are what make reality shows able to keep getting produced. Because that's what people like to watch. And I feel like these kids who live in District 1-4, which are closer to the Capitol, are so affected by what the Capitol tells them about the Games that it almost doesn't seem real to them, even if they are competing themselves. Because there's always that feeling you have when you watch TV of everything being scripted and set up, even if you're watching something live ( ... )

Huh, that's a good way to imagine it. I definitely pictured an Amish-like town when I was reading about District 12.

Oh, the Matched series? I've heard they're kind of similar. They seem to be a bit more focused on the romance aspect which is part of the reason why I haven't picked them up yet, but I might now...mostly because I need something new to read. xD

Read it earlier. There are spots in it where I am not entirely sure the author knows what they're saying when it comes to the Hunger Games. xD
