Alaskan Frontier

I'm going to Alaska! I just booked my tickets for October 6th! It's about 20 degrees colder there on average, but I'm hoping the breathtaking beauty will keep my mind off the chill factor. I think the averages for October are highs in the mid 40s. Anyone have any interesting Anchorage facts or tourist information?
