I just called my parents in Beijing... for free! We downloaded skype, which seems to work pretty well. And, since my new purple laptop has a webcam, they were able to see me and the cats! The cats, however, were not so interested in being held in front of the computer.

They inherited their poopyheadedness from Tim.

I like skype, I've used it a number of times to talk to colleagues across the country and friends in England.

We've been pretty happy with Skype as well, although tekman had to do a bit of tweaking to get it to perform well through our firewall.

We used it to have webcam chats with both of our parents so they could watch the kids open up their Christmas presents. =)
