2) so i'm guessing the name/addy on the checks were fake but can't they figure it out through the sprint bill?? maybe i'm too naive.

yikes, that sucks - and how scary! I went through ID theft a few years ago (someone shipping a bunch of packages from wisconsin to nigeria... no, not sketchy at all!) and I keep thinking if it happened once, it can happen again. after all, I have the same ssn and name as I did then. What kind of REAL protection is there? I mean really. Even if my money gets put back or whatever, the time and stress it costs to fix something like that isn't replaceable. I'm sorry you had to go through this. I'm pissed right there with you.
