So, I had this big long update planned out that I'd been writing for a while, but just hadn't gotten around to typing in...but now I have to chuck out a large part of it

Oh no! Perky, that was so unprofessional - both of the temp agency and the employer. I feel really angry at them - and bad for you. If it was just 'filling in' why the hell did they make you go through an interview? Grrrr...
