So I am rarely (let's say) interested or offer an opinion about American football - normally I just don't care, and don't have the spare time to invest in it.

Thank you for posting this. Not watching telly at all, I hadn't heard about the SuperBowl adverts. Makes me want to send the CBS staffer who made the rejection decision about the advert for the gay dating service a copy of George Takei's answer to Tim Hardaway's homophobic comments. ~snerk~

Love me some George Takei. He's also got brilliant things to say about the conflation of all east Asian cultures. If you can find his "orientalia" lecture, watch it. -grin-
