Despite my liberal affiliations I have to agree with this article. We have a similar problem with native americans up here. Granted white people came in, did horrible things, and basically conquered the country side. However, I did not take any part in it so don't get all bitchy and hold it against me that I don't think you deserve even more free shit than you're already getting, YOU didn't get shot by muskets. YOUR camp wasn't burnt to the ground last week. You were born in an urban environment in a first world nation complete with all the social assistance and benefits that go along with being the average citizen of said nation ( ... )

Exactly. I think the comments below lost sight of what I was trying to get at.

What I liked about this article wasn't about race (that's actually where I thought he derailed himself), but more along the lines of charity should be 'teach a man to fish' not, 'here you go, have all this stuff.'

I should have probably stated my position a little more clearly, as, from you and Chie's post the discussion has shifted toward race. I still think the underlying idea is extremely sound if you take out the race equation ( ... )
