rosencrantz has been out in the gardens, discovering how easy it is to pick blueberries right off the bush -- rolling one off a stem without even breaking it, collecting more in his hat, in his open palms. it isn't much, but it's a discovery, and his hands will be stained all over with blue

And blueberries are lovely! Molly, on the other hand, has been running in the garden. Not jogging in the modern sense, but running for the pure joy of running in the sunshine. She doesn't see him right away, but falls to the grass, panting and happy.

and molly is lovely! at least, that's ros's first thought, grinning to see her so glad and so free, to see the curl of her hair mixed in with all of the leaves of the grass -- yes, she's wonderfully lovely. and his second thought, is to pick a few flowers from the bushes that haven't any fruit, so he can give them along with his berries. "miss -- !"
