It hasn't happened since, but I've been logged in since.

Can't speak for LJ, but as an admin on another website, I can say that if you've done the "clear cookies and cache and restart browser" and you send us screen shots of what you're seeing, and it still didn't let you do what you need to, then we have something to hand to the engineers and/or advertising people to fix it.

i would love to be able to try to reproduce the problem. But, when I hit 'refresh' and a different ad appeared, I was able to login. If it is a 'problem', it's specific to one ad.. in a situation where your cookie expires on the posting page and the website decides you need to log in again when you click the post button.

Yep. If it happens again, screen shot it.

Do you use the actual login page when you log in, or no? I don't know for sure, but I think it might help...

I hate many of the ads here and wish it wasn't a necessary evil to keep the site up and running... (sigh)

I remember when the original PTB swore "there would never be ads on LJ", but a good number of us didn't "hold our breath", so to speak.

Normally I log in from my userinfo page. This just happened when my cookie expired and I needed to log in again, so LJ was prompting me for my username password on the page where you post.

My computer at work doesn't retain cookies once you close internet explorer (a security thing of dubious value and a real pain in the arse) so I have to log in every day. I've found that the best way to avoid problems is to navigate to my own user info and log on there.

If this is your own computer a good ad-blocker like privoxy can save you a lot of grief.

I don't mind seeing advertisments on websites provided the advertisements don't interfere with the functionality of a website.

Hey, I hear livejournal has 'games' now.. so it's making a comeback.

That's good, because I don't play games on my Xbox360, PS3, iPhone, iPad...
