LJ ate my last attempt at posting, so let's try this again.

What I was going to say on Friday:

DAMMIT, SELF, STAY AWAY FROM THE FREAKING SPOILER THREADS.

Ahem.

I picked the wrong time to go poke the Mastiff board at Goldenlake. Now I'm two-thirds of the way through the book, spoiled, distressed, and too tired to finish reading tonight.

Also my knee hurts.

Now that it's Monday, I've been finished with Mastiff for ( Read more... )

I VOTE TOS.

It is ridiculous.

Lost Girl is also really wonderful.

(Dollhouse, however, alternates between being gross and just plain bad, IMO.)

I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT. *g*

I'll check out Lost Girl. I will have to watch Dollhouse sometime because it's Joss Whedon and I'm a completist like that, but I have heard extremely mixed reviews of it. :/

I spoiled myself for Mastiff.

I might have to make those monsters. They are so cute. :)

I've read the Big Girl Knits book as well as the second one. They're pretty good.

The monsters are adorbs and don't require much yarn. I'll post up pictures of the next one in progress if I remember to take them... I used white yarn to knit the teeth into my monsters as I went along, since I am craft glue impaired. :D

Basically... Dollhouse is a good show if you want it to be a good show. If you're a Whedon lover you'll probably like it, and if you're a Whedon skeptic you'll probably hate it.

TOS is still my favorite iteration of Star Trek. Be forewarned that if you get the new remastered versions, you're not seeing it the way it was originally. It's kind of weird to see 21st-century state-of-the-art CGI backgrounds in one scene, and in the next scene Kirk is fighting a guy in a goofy rubber alien suit. They should have just left it alone...

I've been watching Supernatural myself. I'm midway through season 5 now, but I only watch one episode a week so I'll probably never catch up to the broadcast show. That means I get spoility-spoiled all the time, of course. :-(

Deep Space Nine is OK. I wasn't a big fan of Avery Brooks, but I like most of the supporting characters.

*shudders* I am so sorry to hear that, but glad for the warning!

Sadly, I've become a Whedon skeptic thanks to the later half of the S8 comics, in spite of my deep and abiding love for Firefly and BtVS. :/

I've kind of made peace with the second half of season 8. I'm pretty happy with season 9 so far.

Oh, I did catch the Gentle Mother/Pale Mother parallel, but the story's presented so differently I didn't make any other connection! I do see it, now that you mention it.

... which naturally brings me to thinking about Tayse pulling a Tunstall, and just NO. *shivers*

Anyway, "traveling the kingdom on a quest/mission/adventure" is one of my favorite fantasy tropes, so it's no surprise I loved them both. :)
