I finished Mockingjay at long last, and I definitely have some Thoughts about it, but I'm not up to writing on it in detail just now. ( So 600 words will have to do. (Vague spoilers, more character-related than plot.) )

author: suzanne collins, fandom: hunger games

*Not looking because I've only watched The Hunger Games.*

You seem from your mood like you enjoyed it though.

I pretty much agree with your character stuff you said. I love Katniss. I love her flaws. I love that we get to see how the war affects her negatively. Collins writes PTSD in a wonderful way that feels real and complicated and amazing. I love the novels for that. (Sorry, the MHB geek just came out a little).

I kind of like the Gale/Peeta/Katniss triangle. It helps to remind me just how young and confused these characters are.

Also, I like the ending after major spoiler. I like the rebuilding, the regaining of normalacy. I could have lived without the epilogue, but I can live with it too.

It leaves less for fandom to imagine, yet it also gives more to the book and potential for building.

I dislike the vote scene. It makes me mad.

Katniss and Haymitch are wonderful. Truly wonderful.

Real or not real and the grounding makes me squee.

I could keep going, but this is becoming less comment and more entry.
