Comics, briefly

I just realized I'm three issues behind on "X-Factor," and two issues behind on "Nightwing," but I've caught up on other things!

In no particular order and with minimal spoilers:

--I think I'm enjoying "Blue Beetle" and it's "darkness" being that Jaime has to run away to keep his friends and family safe. I am definitely enjoying the pace of the issues and the fact that it's not just, "Oh! I must run!" but Jaime actually fighting the scarab all the way until it is very, very clear Jaime can't change its mind. Darker? Yes. As dark as I thought they were going to go? Not so far, so I'm in a good place.

--"Batman" under Snyder continues to be fucking amazing, and I continue to goad you into reading it if you're not. Fantastic fucking book. Also, pretty creepy, so fair warning.

--"JLI" still feels like it's finding it's feet, but I thought the epilogue to the first arc did a good job of clearing up the last bumps from the first arc and setting up the new arc. We have confirmation that Guy and Tora only dated briefly and it was his hardassness that ended the relationship. I can respect this. Guy is still current-Guy, which is to say pigheaded but not a complete ass, and he and Tora are still friends, so I will allow it (magnanimous SOB ain't I?). In other news, as I am currently with Guy & Kyle in the same book, I'm contemplating Booster/Guy. Regret NOTHING. (Especially because the bastards took away Ted. Booster needs a best friend! [BRING BACK TED YOU FUCKS])

--"GLC" threw me for a big loop last issue, but it's not a bad writing decision: It's that GLC is getting written now as a military book as opposed to a cops-in-space book, so the rules are a little different. I'm really fascinated to see where it goes, especially John, who's gotten his emotional ass kicked all over the place.

--"GL: New Guardians" is just...it is batshit crazy, and I love that it is. It's like everyone at DC got drunk and came up with this idea, and Bedard is running with it as hard as he can. I appreciate that. I also appreciate the fact that we're getting some character moments, and I laughed really hard when I saw the painfully obvious cheesecake on page...something. I dunno. I'm sure anyone else who's read the latest issue and remembers Fatality flying at the front of the panel knows which one I'm talking about. It was so freaking unnecessary, but I still laughed. I am not a perfect person.

--"Deadpool" keeps trying to make me cry. The fucker. Seriously, I don't know how Way balances the ridiculous Deadpool goofiness with all the moments that nearly make me cry, but damnit, I love him for it.

That's all I can remember for now. You need me, I'll be doing homework yet again.
