My Naruto Rant of the Week: Manga Chapter 437

Feb 28, 2009 01:28

I had been so utterly thrilled that Hinata had finally confessed at first.  I did the Ultimate NaruHina dance, I sang to my cat, Prieto, and I even posted on all the spastic NaruHina blogs about how excited I had been with this new, amazing development. But then, I had to ask myself…

Is Hinata really dead...? )

AMEN SISTAH!

Srsly. I had a looooong argument with my sister over this and we agreed that as epic as her confession was, it was kinda lame too. I mean, what, we wait 437 chapters for her to finally grow a backbone and two pages later she 'dies'?

WTF KISHI? THIS ISN'T DEVELOPMENT.

So yeah. She can't die. I think a lot of people would be put off.

Put off? Hahaha... you're going about it rather nicely, I'd say...

People are already talking about riots, and sending death threats. Whether they're joking or not (which I think they are) is another story, but the fact that this assumed death has stirred so much emotion AND commotion in the Narutard community pretty much proves my point!

I mean, not even Kakashi got this much attention!

I couldn't agree more poppet. With your whole rant.
The more I think and re-read this chapter, the more I begin to hate how it was excuted.

What I don't understand is, as you said, why Hinata's confession had such a wild affect on Naruto if he truly didn't appreciate her? I've been reading through comments made at eljay and beyond and (biting my tongue as I did) I've seen alot of Hinata hate - "Did you see her epically fail against Pein? Useless." and NaruHina denial - "Didn't mean anything. Naruto looked sickened."

And yet, Naruto went to the level he has been trying to avoid while fighting Pein, Kyuubi. And we're made to believe it's because of both Hinata and her speech. It's UNDENIABLE that Naruto was affected by her words, you could see it in his face. But I was wondering, although Naruto knew that his masters have both been slaughtered by Pein, he has destroyed the village Naruto loves and changed and grew up in, he has hurt countless people and yet, he refused to transform ( ... )

I think if Kishimoto had planned to kill her all along, he is going to have to do A WHOLE lot more explaining to do than what he's done so far! We all know that. He's going to have to get off his lazy ass and do something about it, for his sake and for his pocket, because a lot of people are going to be upset ( ... )

Anyway... I just think Kishimoto is being so vague about everything (of course because he can, it's his damn story after all) because he's actually NOT going to kill our beloved Hinata.I think he's being vague as well. There's something seriously off about the whole scene. You have a wall of earth, conveniently hiding the victim. You have Pein hesitating at first, did something funny with his eyes, and watched Naruto for a second, before stabbing. And we didn't see the stabbing at all. Then he tells Naruto, about how this looks exactly like how his parent's dies. Pushing the poor boy over the edge. Yet earlier, Ma frog told Naruto not to believe anything Pein says ( ... )

Yep... something's completely off about the way Kishimoto is doing everything, but oh well.

We're still on for the socks filled with nickles ordeal, right?

Just in case Hina-chan really does kick the bucket, that is.

"Hinata’s death would change Naruto into being the person he always avoided becoming: a dark, depressed, and hurt man."

I disagree. Sure, Naruto will feel guilty and angry if she died, but if he didn't become dark, depressed, and hurt when Jiraiya and presumbably Kakashi died, then it's unlikely Hinata will push him over the edge. Although NaruHina is certainly a cute pairing (and epic, now with this chapter), the fact of the matter is that they don't know each other all that well just yet.

I agree that the manga is NOT focused on the romance between characters. Yes there are crushes and a few relationships that are JUST mentioned but not outright expanded in the story ( ... )

Indeed! I couldn't have said it better myself. Like I said, I doubt we'll get to see any romance between ANY characters. I mean, we didn't get to with Asuma and Kurenai, and next thing we know she's knocked up! HA! I thought that was pretty funny.

And, yeah, I agree... we don't get to know much about the supporting characters because the story is not about them, but Naruto and his Ninja career.

I do hope that at least Kishimoto has the courtesy of giving us a glance of what happens to all those characters at the end of the story, because it will be very disappointing if he doesn't, otherwise. We never know what Kishimoto has up his sleeve these days... lol... he's a master at surprising us, I suppose... well, at least sometimes, I think, because other times things occasionally get redundant and predictable.
