Summary: Kagome is about to return to the past after naraku's death to find things a little changed.
Miroku stood outside the hut nervously pacing while Inuyasha eyed him impassively from his seated position in front of the door.
“I don't know what your all worked up about. She'll be fine. She's strong.”
Miroku stopped mid-step to look at his long time friend with angry disbelief.
“I am aware of Sango's strength Inuyasha. I think it is you who forget that despite that she is not a half demon but human.”
Inuyasha huffed and looked away. Mirkou sighed and sat down. He was certain Inuyasha was also worried even if he acted otherwise.
It had been three years since Naraku's demise and he had been having thoughts of why he still stayed in the village. The bonds of friendship and loyalty forged in the hunt for the shards was not easily broken.
A small wail inside the hut had both males look up to face each other. A scant minute later Rin emerged and bowed to them.
“Sango has had a son and all is well.”
She slipped back inside to help the women and Miroku patted Inuyasha's back.
“A son. I have always wanted a son.”
Inuyasha nodded and stood. His eyes slid to the monk speculatively.
“If only Kagome was here to see this.”
Miroku stood up as well and ran a hand through his hair.
“Do you, do you think she would be happy about this?”
Inuyasha crossed his arms and turned to the hut.
“Are you worried or sumthin'?”
Mirkou jumped slightly. He had not thought his friend was able to see his thoughts so clearly.
“No. No, of course not.”
Inuyasha huffed again obviously not believing a word.
“Have you been to the well yet today?”
Miroku smiled.
“No hiding things from your nose I suppose. It's safe to say you know I have been there every day since she went back.”
Inuyasha shrugged.
“You should go. I'm picking up kinda familiar scent from over there.”
Mirkou's eyes widened a second. He glanced at the hut with a sad expression before turning to run for the well.
Inuyasha smiled slightly watching the monk run. He had noticed. How could he not? Now the question was how Kagome would feel.
“Maybe something else will be born this day.”
With a slight shake of his head Inuyasha pushed aside the cover to the door to check on his mate and new son.
