I very much want to magically transport you to the history department here...they would love you, and you them I think. Especially in the sub-departments of Scottish or Celtic history it is all about medieval and renaissance history (which leaves me, the accidental modernist, a bit out of things).

Seriously, though, future job prospects aside, have you ever considered grad work in history? Even here with the crappy exchange rate there is a significant amount of funding for those who are willing to seek it out - and US institutions are rather more generous usually. Not to mention that we keep being told that the world needs more archivists, an option which would allow you to combine the library thing with more focused history work...

Okay, I'm done meddling/persuading now, really.

Make my day, why don't you... :)?

You know, I wouldn't mind a magical transportation to a history department, especially one where you're also doing a little work for the good of the order.

Please continue to meddle and persuade! A bit of insistence would do me a world of good. If the world were perfect, I would have ended up studying history in England, honestly. But law school and all that.

We should chat about your work in detail sometime...

Thanks for the birthday wishes! No worries about "missing" it. I know you've had your hands full and other things on your mind. I'm just sorry we didn't get to hang out more this weekend, and I will work on getting the hang of this texting business.
