So, tonight I failed to see Stardust.

We meant to go see Stardust at the second-run place, but it turned out they were showing it ten minutes before their own website said, plus there was a long enough line that this made a difference. So we got tickets for Transformers instead. It was fun. Maybe we'll go back tomorrow for Stardust.

Cut for spoiler )

You do need to see Stardust, if you haven't already. It's absolutely brilliant. *loves it* Transformers was still fun, though.

And LOL to that last bit. :D

I kind of wish I'd read the book first, I confess. I've never been as wild about the stuff of Gaiman's I mostly encounter -- Good Omens and the Endless -- as the people I'm encountering it through seem to be, but this one sounds like fun.

Wow, Transformers is still in a theater? I'm watching it on DVD right now!

Second-run place, yes. Now I sort of want to go back and reread all the posts from when it first came out, but I don't think that's quite going to work out. :P

Ooh, Stardust is lovely. I thought the pacing was a bit off in the first half hour or so, and the climactic battle just went ON and ON and ON, but yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The book is also fantastic. Definitely get the one illustrated by Charles Vess. I have two versions, because I bought the novel first, and then I saw the graphic novel and was like, "CANNOT NOT BUY."

But I really like Gaiman, so I'm a bit biased. I think you'll like it too, though. More like The Princess Bride than most things I have ever read.

Hee. Yes, I did enjoy it, and I see the resemblance to The Princess Bride. Although the Wall kept making me think of the Abhorsen Trilogy! To which it otherwise had pretty minimal resemblance, I realize.

I also was left thinking, "Wow, His Majesty There-Can-Be-Only-One has quite the throwing arm." ;)
