Yesterday, I got around to something I've felt like I probably ought to do for a while: I went to be taught CPR. For the sake of efficiency, I signed up for the one that covered adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as how to use an automated external defibrillator and some basic first aid ( Read more... )

I'm taking a CPR class now. It's actually changed as of a few years ago. You have to give more chest compressions to breaths than before. So it's probably a good idea to learn it again, even if you did remember everything :p

In high school, my brother used to ditch class and go to the animal shelter with his friends. Very strange now that I think about it. But my brother is a very good boy and we live in a very boring town.

As it is, I don't remember the former ratio. They said they'd changed it so you didn't check for a pulse in an adult who wasn't breathing, too.

I should probably have been clearer about this, but was trying to cut myself off pre-ramble. Health class described most of it. Practicing, not so much.

Good for you for taking those CPR lessons. I'm not sure if I remember enough of what I've been taught to be of any use in an emergency.

I always assumed that places like Boarders and Barnes & Noble allow reading because they're big enough that you could browse through a book without an employee seeing you.

Well, there is that. But when they start putting out armchairs, one suspects it has become a strategy.
