That lots of people showed up means that your grandpa touched a lot of lives. It's nice that you have good memories of him--hold on to those. It is sometimes surprising to see pictures of someone you only remember as being old when they are in the prime of their lives. You go, whoa, he/she looked really good! It's a sorta in your face reminder that the person you are remembering went through all the stages of life you're going through, in a different time and different situations, but in a way, very similar.

I have seen other photos of him around the same era and I even saw home videos also, but that particular photo he just......wow, looked so different. partly it was because he had a hat on so the shape of his face (upside down triangle) didn't show up and it also shaded part of his face too. he had the same face shape and similar features to his dad,which my uncle has too. so weird. big forehead with a narrow chin/jaw
