Kaze to Ki no Uta (Poem of Wind and Trees)
Please let me know if any of these dl links expire, and I'll re-up!
Summary: It is 1880 at the all-boys school, Lacombrade Academy in France. Serge Battour is a cheerful and kind new student who is trying to fit in with the rest of the student body, despite the taboo of his gypsy heritage, made obvious by his dark skin. However, his roommate Gilbert Cocteau, known for sleeping with anyone at the school to manipulate them to his advantage, is not helping the situation, especially when he makes it his personal goal to bring about Serge's downfall.
Notes: Originally published in the 1970's, Kaze to Ki no Uta is considered by many to be the first true yaoi manga. There has never been a full English translation. Please note that its title was originally translated as Song of Wind and Trees and you'll see it elsewhere under that name, but this was a misreading of the Japanese. The scanlation group Obsession has done a portion of Kaze to Ki, but their translations are not very accurate (and sometimes just flat-out wrong), so I don't recommend them.

mediafire This chapter puts me up to the point where Obsession stopped their scanlation. Another group, Scarlet Carnival, picked up where Obsession stopped, and they seem to be doing an absolutely lovely job of it. I'm not completely in agreement with some of the finer points (Poem of Wind and Trees, people, not Song!), but I see no reason to re-scanlate their work (as opposed to Obsession's, which was often incomprehensible), so I'll be wrapping up my work with this series here. If Scarlet Carnival stops, I'll probably pick up where they left off, but otherwise sayonara and thanks for the Kaze to Ki love!

OTHER KAZE TO KI INFO:
A NOTE ON NAME TRANSLATIONS
Translating foreign names can be one of the hardest things when dealing with Japanese, and for anyone who's interested, I'd like to take a moment to explain why I translated names as I did in Kaze to Ki no Uta, and why you might see them translated differently by different scanlators/fansubbers.
First of all, a quick (and very basic) Japanese lesson for those unfamiliar. ANIME
Most people come looking for the manga after they've seen the anime OVA, Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus, but if you haven't seen it yet, here are some links:
VHS bittorrent from aarinfantasy Only accessible if you're a member-- sign up, it's worth it!!
VHS version Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus is also available
on youtube.
There was a laserdisc version available some time ago, but I can no longer find it!
MUSIC
There are a number of musical recordings related to Kaze to Ki, most of which are unavailable because they're on vinyl or cassette. The albums are sort of "music to read by," in that they go along with the mood of the manga. I managed to find one album partially sampled in .rm form from the very first release in 1980, and I've put them into 30 sec .avi sample files for download:

The fantastic Daniela Zamora has found a .rar of the OVA soundtrack! Thanks Daniela!!
mediafire ARTBOOK
Takemia Keiko also published an artbook in 1991 including images of Kaze to Ki called Umi no Tenshi/ Cherubin de la mer. I've read online that it contains color pics as well as a story occurring after the end of the series, but I couldn't find the book in Japan (and boy, did I look!), so can't confirm this. It appears every so often on ebay for ridiculous prices, so we may see scans eventually.
