I can see the rationale being "People look at it as, 'I drink diet soda, so I can eat more ..." but the whole "It taste like a lot of calories, but isn't ..." thing made me laugh.

I get what you are saying (I think it was just the wording in the email). Putting something in your body that has no calories (and very little nutritional value in general) would cause it to overcompensate, I suppose. But the idea of something "tasting like a lot of calories" still seems funny.

Eeeks, I drink diet soda, mostly for the sugar(carb) intake, not necessarily the calories. Run a mile and you'll get rid of the 20 oz soda you drink that day, so not a huge biggie.
It always did trip me out when I'd see these big guys go into a burger joint, supersize everything and order a diet coke. LOL Like that makes a difference.
I do however LOVE the diet cherry vanilla coke... it's just so yummy.
I usually only order diet coke if I'm in need of something fuzzy, if not, water or tea with my meal works. :)

Diet soda ... yuck! lol Well, I only drink a few sodas anyway (granted, they are known to be the worst for you, but oh well :P), and the diet versions of Moutain Dew is just nasty!

ah yes, I remember, the tea debate in Northern CA. :P
I, like you, don't drink much soda. I stick to tea.

Unfortunately, I do drink a rather high amount (though I've been cutting back) of soda ... just not very many types. I prefer Mountain Dew/Mello Yello, and can't stand the taste of the carmel-colored drinks.

I would still prefer Southern style sweet tea to soda anyday ... I'm just too lazy to make it most of the time.
