Since unsolicited,
inflamatory, public, ooc criticism is now allowed and encouraged in FH-land, I thought I'd add my own.
Congratulations. You're driving out your best players one by one. Did
you notice a lot of them left at the end of the term?
I am now an outsider to this game, but in the past two weeks, I have
noticed a lot of biased administration going on here. The previous
administration resolved player issues and problems by taking it off
the community and discussing it private in email. This past term, you
all have taken admining OOC and in public. Your tone in doing so has
been sarcastic, overbearing, and generally meant to humiliate players.
There are factions of players within this game. I am well aware of
this. It seems, however, that certain factions are preferred. If these
players have a problem with another they can get the administration on
their side and generally harass the player into submission. I have
observed this with the player of Han Solo within the last two weeks.
You are quick on the trigger with calling retconning. My understanding
of the game is that if interaction happened on a community, and not
behind a "locked' personal journal, the action was public. Anyone
could have seen it unless they specifically were said to be elsewhere.
Parker coming out of the boy's restroom was a public action. Han could
have been in the common room, or passing by, or just seeing it out of
a dorm room. Saying he saw it later is not retconning in my opinion,
uless the action was locked. It was not.
This was the first time I noted sarcastic admin actions. If there was
a question of whether something was retconning, it should have been
taken private. The tone both in Hawkeye and Smith's OOC posts were
uncalled for. It was assumed that he was "taking it out on another
player". He was not. He was reacting in character to a teenage Han
Solo getting caught red-handed. So he said he saw Parker. He very well
may have. She did the action in a community, and therefore "in
public".
What follows today is the public smackdown in detention. The post by
Angel-mun in the OOC thread was uncalled for. The administration
should have deleted that and told both players to take it private. It
was again an attempt to humiliate a player publicly.
Han-mun was having fun in detention, giving Rita a hard time. Han-mun
mentioned that it was even cutting into paid work because she wanted
to be there, interacting as Han.
If any of your and your players are having a difficult time
understanding Han's interactions, I suggest you rewatch the Star Wars
trilogy. Han is, in canon, an arrogant jackass who *would* give Rita a
hard time in detention as a teenager.
You have had the pleasure of driving me out of the game already. I
just thought I'd let you know that it was this kind of admin bullshit
that sent me there, as well as many, many other players.
Please check yourself with the confusing of IC and OOC actions. Also
check the favortism factor. And please, before you find yourself in a
once glorious and now near defunct RPG, check the tone you use when
you put on the admin hat.
Thank you for your time.
