Firstly, I am glad that you have time to breath, eat, drink, pee and livejournal with you schedule. You can do it. Rah rah. Ok enough of that before I attempt a basket toss with my current shoulder situation.
Well, Anne Rice wrote subseqent novels in a much better way than her first one, which i believe she muddled through after her five year old daughter, who IS Claudia pretty much, died. Once she developed her craft it was better, but I got pretty much sick of Lestat going on and on about how he is the brat prince of the world etc. etc.
I need to finish Ursula LeGuin's book, the first Earthsea one. By the way, Anansi Boys is my next project now that it is softcover, and Gaiman also came out with a new book of short stories (must have!!) and a Halloween scary fairy tale which I bought because I was in the Samhain mood. I count five new unread books in my possession. It gets to the point that I have to grab my collar and drag myself away from whatever else besides the additional file sorter I don't need in the book store.
As I was composing my version of the list, my mind was niggling me about Babel-17, and it just didn't make it to my post. It has a most amazing premise concerning language on so many levels.
Not that I let myself encourage people to buy Card's books any more (his version of Mormonism is ugly, IMO), I would encourage you to find Songmaster at a used book store or library. If you were that impresed by Ender's Game, you will love Songmaster.
