Ohhh thank you. I don't write scary stories much so I'll consider that an accomplishment. Happy Halloween!

Excellent story! You and Sev have a way with John and Matt and Zombies. (or whatever the apocalypse is.)

I really like how you had the Scavengers still trying to find survivors and that John still had hope Lucy might have survived. And of course the government screwed things up as usual.

How like Matt to try to give the kids a good Halloween. (what's Christmas like now?)

I get the feeling that Warlock didn't survive? But others made it, thanks to him.

Thanks so much for this! Any chance you'll be writing more in this universe?

Oh thank you. This is my first attempt at the genre, and Sev is a long-time master of it so to be compared to her is a compliment indeed ( ... )

I wrote my comment before reading any of the others or your replies so...

So maybe there will be some more chapters or prequels...or jj abrams style sequels.

EEEEEEEE!!!!!

I'm really pleased with the feedback I've gotten on this (all 4 comments lol) because without my usual romantic conflict resolution I really wasn't sure it had enough catharsis or plot or that it was 'anything', you know? But, yeah, if 50% of (all 4) readers want more of this...maybe there's a little something. ;)

I DO need an idea for SFB...

Oh wow. Oh my god. THIS. I love this so much. Talk about setting the scene -- I ADORE how it just drops us in the middle of the apocalypse and lets us figure out what the hell happened, especially because at first it's like a normal Hallowe'en but with just enough 'off' (Matt's toys, homemade cookies, John's vigilance) to make us realize that there's something very wrong here. It's really brilliantly done.

I love the way everything is just so *natural* -- supply runs and rangers and the weekly generator and Matt's old movies just organically part of the text.

You did an amazing job. Amazing.

This is one of those fics that makes me want more. Not even like "ooh I want a sequel" but I just want... all of it. An entire 'verse set in this world. Prequels and sequels and random fluffy vignettes and scary bits on a supply run and OMG GIVE ME ALL THE ZOMBIEVERSE FICS.

Love you. xxx

Let me start by saying that getting your stamp of approval on this - as long-time master of this genre - means so, so much to me. (and honestly when you said you were hoping for scary zombies and hot sex, I was really not sure this world-building whatever-this-is was going to get it ( ... )

I liked the way you wrote this story - though there were not action scenes there was a taste of post outbreak action movie. I could not help hoping to see this in a real movie. Also loved the conversation between John and Matt, especially mentioning raising a family. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. I did kind of want to do something a little different in the genre - I see a lot of action stories and a lot of survival stories but not a lot of rebuilding stories where it is years after the disaster, but I know the genre is action-based so I tried to get some of it in the background. I am glad that came across.

And yes, the genre is fun, but the family conversation was the real story, wasn't it? :)
