yes indeed, we project where we are into others...how do you know that he wasn't the one who initaited the removal of that ring?.....have you seen the peaceful warrior?

I have not seen The Peaceful Warrior, but I've heard great things about it.
It's entirely possible that he initiated the whole deal. Even still, I can't say that I've had a break like that in which I was ecstatic afterward. Sometimes happy, but always drained and something like sad.

Yes and that is your experience and I agree that most of us feel this way, yet there is a danger in projecting what you feel into others.....you are seeing them through the filter of your experience and not for who they really are, that's hard to do because we do filter quite a lot but as we become more conscious we start to really see the beauty in the diversity of others.

Absolutely. I try to never expect anything from anyone, especially by attributing my own personality traits, quirks, defects, etc. (and I know that all of my defects are expressions of the divine, used primarily for me to learn some lesson, so I don't worry about them too much ( ... )

That's an image that hurts because I think we are all so often oblivious to everyone else. Your poem picked that lack to focus on. Paying attention to each other seems such a small thing, but what would this world be like if we only did that!

I have to be in a pretty good spot spiritually to be able to pay that kind of attention. I would love to say I always do, but that wouldn't be totally honest. If the majority of people could pay attention like that, it would be a very different world. Not judging anyone of course. I'm not in that majority all the time. And even though it's such a simple thing, it is awfully difficult to take a look at someone else and pause long enough to care about them.
I have a new mission for today then: to try and feel some compassion for 8 or 10 people that I don't know. We'll see how it works....
