TM 188- Two Letters

Aug 12, 2007 22:41

TM 188 - Write two letters: One to someone you hurt and the other to someone who hurt you.

Dear President Baltar

Dear Gaius

Dear Not-So-Dear Doctor Baltar,

That's how I think of you. Doctor Baltar, who was an ideal of mine, through school and into the Fleet. I wanted to meet you in the way that HotDog craved a meeting with Gripkey from the C-Bucs. ( Read more... )

OOC: Now, see, if I could get that, with no Gaius defending himself or justifying himself, or even speaking at all, I just want Gaeta to be able to yell at Baltar for an entire scene. Of all the people who deserve a shot at that squirrely little frak, it's Gaeta (maybe Tigh) who deserves it most of all. I want what I just read onscreen. And the pup is poking me, so I'll turn the mike over to her...

Has he been humming all this time? Galen's been humming a bit more lately...

It's better listening to him hum than it is listening to him call Helo a toaster-lover or me a traitor, or say "What the hell?" every time the Admiral does something he doesn't like or understand.

OOC- And thanks for that. I thought and thought about this prompt and I realized eventually that Gaeta only had one letter to write, not two.

[locked to Gaeta]

I'm not endorsing what the Colonel's been up to lately, but the toasters took his eye. The toasters were ultimately the ones responsible for his wife's death. I know Athena had nothing to do with any of that, but when someone's already teetering over the edge like the colonel is, logic doesn't generally enter into his way of thinking. I speak from personal experience.

As for the Admiral, I'm hoping one of those "what the hell" moments were while I was lined up against a wall with a few marines waiting around for a phone call from the admiral. I'll bet no one was speaking up for me at that point. Plenty of people have since come forward to make it clear to me that they thought the ship would've been better off if one of those marines had jumped the gun, pardon the pun.

[unlocked]

There's no excuse for the way Tigh's still treating you. Did you go to the Admiral about it?

Never thought about it, actually. But I'd have to say that if you do what you think is right at that moment, there's no good second guessing it later. I wouldn't trade Hera's life for having Baltar gone, but I'm not inviting him over to dinner, either.

Captain, you are one of the kindest souls I have ever met.

I've never met a mind so brilliant, and yet so completely shackled by ego and denial.

*shakes head* A walking contradiction.

OOC: I love, love, LOVE this response. Why? Because it's so Gaeta. And because of that, we get to see a side of Baltar that Gaeta sees. And when I write, I'm only thinking of Baltar (how Gaius, right? LOL). It's so NEAT to read other points of view for the same things. This was so fantastically done. :D

OOC- Thank you! Gaeta's feelings for Baltar are such a fascinating place for me to go; he's all knotted up inside over it. Ever noticed that everything BAD Gaeta's ever done relates to Baltar in some way?
