Point of the degree, I think, is to 'sample' various jobs, specializing in one, in order that you might get a job that pays and involves doing things you enjoy. If you aren't liking what your degree entails, see what you can do that you'll enjoy.
I'm not saying turn down a job (you'll want to eat, after all), but see what you can do with your skill set (or with skills you can acquire) that you'll enjoy. I had a great job this past summer that was maybe tangent to my degrees, and I had a great time. There's probably plenty you can do.
Making 30K a year, or any amount, is only important if it allows you to do things outside of work that you enjoy. If you can enjoy life on 26k a year, more power to you.
You write quite well. Assuming you enjoy it, maybe spend an extra hour every week or so writing, you may well end up having written a book. Worth a try.
