Y'all, this is just so exciting. I need to go to bed (and to stop looking at how Prop 8 is doing, it's not like the results will be up before I get up tomorrow), but it's just... this is the first presidential election I have ever been able to vote in where I felt happy. Oh, I completely agree with you - the solution doesn't even begin with electing the right person - but it's still a pretty awesome, hopeful gesture. And there is that whole Democratic majority in Senate and Congress thing to back it up as well. I mean, I also agree with you that the two-party system is flawed, and my beliefs are much more closely aligned to the Greens, but it's still better. And considering, as you pointed out, what I can only classify as the total heartbreak of the 2000, 2002, and 2004 elections (you should have seen me; I split my time after each of these elections between righteous fury and utter despondence) - it was about damn time.

Although I really do wish Prop 8 hadn't passed. It's bumming me out.

It would definitely be interesting to discuss politics in more detail. Although calling me a yellow-dog Democrat has been fightin' words in my family since I was about thirteen and declared myself a socialist. *grin*

And I think you should definitely call me sometime. Free for seventy minutes? That's totally awesome. You have my number, right?
