Unpack it, and follow the instructions. In the examples directory there is a simple script that will turn all public entries to friend-only. It won't alter other marked entries for purposes of keeping them as-is (like you marked them private, or special-filters).
Hey, I'm on OSX, now what?perspicuityJanuary 18 2006, 07:23:19 UTC
Well, you should have perl already, that's a good start.
You're going to have to find and download and unpack the developer kit from Apple. Then install it. That will supply the 'make' tool you will need. You're also going to need to have admin rights to install it.
Then you just run the script, you will probably also have to point it to the local version of perl (or create a link for future use).
Note:
The script is also "delicate" and if it times out, you will need to rerun it, it'll figure out where to start off again. Repeat until done. It'll just work.

supplied by teddywookie "I didn't know this so maybe you don't either. But you probably do. Oh well.
Anyway, turns out we can opt out of the LJ lastest-posts feed and keep posted images from getting picked up by the numerous trawlers out there. Opinions differ, but the image reapers even seem to have access to images in friends-only posts. I can't test that since I don't have a working access log anymore but it certainly looks that way to me.
So yeah, admin console, command: set latest_optout yes

There's the priorly mentioned LJ::Simple, and there's also:
http://ljtools.sourceforge.net/
Good stuff. LJ::Simple looks best if you're going to start from scratch though.
