Hey Perthlings! My partner and I are Brisneylanders heading west for our honeymoon in April/May next year, and I come looking for delicious suggestions... I know this is a Perth community, but I'm hoping that you guys can offer some advice on awesome restaurants/cafes around the Margaret River region ( Read more... )

For a good meal I can recommend Must Winebar or Winos. Both, especially the former, carry a good selection of wines from local vineyards. So you can try glasses of stuff and decide where to go visit.

I can suggest some favourite vineyards, such as Happs, Cape Mentelle and Redgate.

There are also lots of good recommendations here.

Have fun and congratulations on the honeymoon!

Lamonts - you have to get the pavlova dish, they are famous for it and its better than you could imagine.
There are heaps of breweries down there and really your best bet is to just pop in and give them a go. Lamonts Lamonts Lamonts. Seriously, the location, the scenery, the quality...
The margaret river chocolate factory also has a cheese section, an icecream section and a section with olive oils, jams, marmalades, etc etc

Its more of a dish that has pavlova qualities... you just HAVE to go there - Heath Ledger took Michelle there when they came to Perth and the pavlova is f'ing amazing!

Yes they have a 'Margaret River' produce factory that has specialities like chocolate factory, cheeses factory and all other things!

Well I don't know much about the fine dining down there, but the breweries are well worth it!!
You can't miss the wine tour busses if you visit the tourist centre, so that bit is easy.

I can recommend the following breweries in the region in no particular order.

Bush Shack Brewery (great alcopop blends and a lovely setting near Dunsborough)
Duckstein Brewery (German brews, and more meat than you can possibly eat)
Bootleg Brewery (very famous for its dark beers)
Occys Brewery (outdoor pub/brewery who dont yet bottle their brews, dodgy outdoor entertainment, can buy takehome flagons!!)
Coworamup Brewery (I remember having some good pizzas there)
Colonial Brewery (Best bloody shredded duck and bush chutney pizza I have ever had, fantastic develled chicken, and home of the "Growler")

Thanks muchly for the suggestions - we've not got a great many boutique breweries over here [and I'd rather eat my own eyeballs with chopsticks than go on a Fourex brewery tour], so your suggestions are awesome. Thanks, I'll be having a drink or twelve in your honour!

Yes there's the chocolate factory and there's also a fudge place that sells many fudges. When we went to the chocolate fatcory they had these tasting bowls on the counter with chocolate drops in with a spoon to take a sample and this fat kid was spooning insane amounts into his t-shirt.

Get those travel books and look on the web (sometimes they even have coupons and offers and stuff)
