Livejournal has fallen.
They are coming.

More artists and friends have been banned. I wonder how long pervart has?

[Edit: smut_wednesday deleted themselves until the members could decide how to procede.]This journal started in 2004 as a place for me to show my adults-only artwork, and has been friends-only since 2007. But since Livejournal is deleting ( Read more... )

smut wed. isn't gone, the mods just deleted it for the moment until they can get in touch with most of the members since there are quite a few people at the con. They just didn't want to take any chances that the art could get baleeted during this time.

I too am usually a lurker, but I am coming out of my lurkerdom to fully support you. There is NO WAY I would ever unfriend your (or anyone) over LJ/6A's censorship.

LJ's claim (I no longer distinguish between LJ and 6A) is that the art would probably have been found "obscene" by the Miller test, and that it depicted minors.

If those were true--if it *was* found legally obscene, and was decided to depict minors (or even look like a minor; in Obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children, that's close enough)--it would be a crime in the US to own or distribute the picture.

LJ is claiming Ponderosa is probably a criminal. I think Pond should get a lawyer.

Part of the legal def for "obscenity" includes "has no serious artistic value." So... ifit depicts a minor in a graphic sexual way, and it is "patently offensive," and it lacks "serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value" (sometimes called the SLAPS test), THEN it would be criminal, and LJ would be very right to remove it ( ... )

Which additional artists and friends have been banned? I haven't heard of any yet.

Btw, I friended you back. If you don't mind my asking....why did you friend me in the first place? Not that I mind, of course, it's just I don't get around much and am not much known.

In case for some reason you've not heard yet, some folks are talking about setting up a journal based fandom thingie. I have no idea what will happen, but I'm following it here: fandom_flies . Meanwhile, I've gone to GJ and added a few familiar friends; and now I sit back and wait to see what happens ( ... )
