Mpreg

Hey, guys. Today, or at least today as I'm writing this, someone left a comment about Mpreg on chapter seven of AHSR. I decided to bring the question over here myself, since I'm interested in what people will have to say ( Read more... )

Understandable. Mpreg is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, for a number of reasons. Thanks for the lovely compliments!

Mpreg does not really bother me all that much, to be honest. I don't actively seek out mpreg fics, but if they are well-done I enjoy them. Let me just say that I LOVE the way you and slashpervert wrote Harry's pregnancy in The Bound Prince series. I was thoroughly impressed, and you guys put tears in my eyes on more than one occasion. I'm just sort of catching up with other fics now ( ... )

I agree with you 100% completely. I also don't seek out the fics with Mpreg, but I like it if they do it correctly. One thing I really cannot stand is when the explanation for the pregnancy is: "Oh, men can get pregnant in the Wizarding World, Harry, didn't your boyfriend, who was raised most decidedly pureblood, tell you? No? So you didn't use a contraceptive charm? Oh. That's too bad." lol.

What I think I love about Mpreg are the moments during the actual pregnancy. The belly kissing and the talks about what sort of parents they will be, and what they will name their baby, and what they want for their baby. I just adore it.

And, ugh, that movie was horrible, wasn't it? lol

Actually I don't know there is a genre like this before, or ever think of it, it just comes along in some fics... I am not totally thrilled by this idea...but I don't oppose it strongly either.

I am a very practical person, I like to analyze and guess, and male pregnancy is just...out of my boundary...just to imagine - how can two men produce an egg? You handled it in HP and the White Queen well, but somehow...I will always give up thinking and analyzing the possibility, and I will give up the story if it handles mpreg too bad...esp. those that is too OOC (like an always babbling and crying Draco or Harry, as no man will do that)...

I don't know whether my opinions are helpful or not, I just accept mpreg with any good and reasonable fanfic...

I usually do avoid mpreg fics. I've tried to read a few but it seems like the characterization just goes out the window when mpreg's come into play. I understand that there are hormones and all but I really can't get into some off the wall things that I've seen- like a pregnant Draco crying because Ron said something mean about him. Personallly i usually don't enjoy preg. fics at all- either mpreg or regular...i just don't like how a fic usually goes from a very well constructed drama to betty homemaker...Don't get me wrong, i like some good schmoop but i need my realistic drama to go with it
