Way to go Simpsons on the huge opening weekend! I was fortunate enough to see it with my family as a pre-birthday spoiling sort of thing.. and holy crap, it was hilarious. Because it was made over such a long time, I don't really remember any specific throwbacks to older episodes and seasons.. a vague familiarity with the characters definitely helps with some jokes, but I wouldn't say it's a necessity.

It's the funniest movie I've seen all year, I'd definitely recommend even if you haven't watched in a while, or are among the internet millions who bitch about it not being funny anymore X)
