Navigating the search for legal representation is awfully fun. Within just a day of two I've been through a gauntlet of horrendously different quotes (from $1,500, to $3,500, to $5,000, to an impressive $6,000) and had different lawyers make different claims as to what's necessary or can be done. Basically, one guy who seems to really know what he's doing is saying we'll get married, then we apply for a green card for her to change her status. Others are saying she'd need to file for a K1 'fiance visa', wait the 6-8 months for that, then would have to get married with 90 days of that being issued, and -then- would need to change her status.
