Navigating the search for legal representation is awfully fun. Within just a day of two I've been through a gauntlet of horrendously different quotes (from $1,500, to $3,500, to $5,000, to an impressive $6,000) and had different lawyers make different claims as to what's necessary or can be done. No claim. Just getting an immigration lawyer to back us up with the plan of immigrating Lauren here after our yet-unplanned wedding.

Basically, one guy who seems to really know what he's doing is saying we'll get married, then we apply for a green card for her to change her status. Others are saying she'd need to file for a K1 'fiance visa', wait the 6-8 months for that, then would have to get married with 90 days of that being issued, and -then- would need to change her status.

Mwarrr... very sweet of you to take care of that aspect of it, and I'm quite impressed by your progress within only a day! I really -want- to believe the one lawyer, but damn if this other one doesn't have me nervous. While he could be just saying it for profit, I guess the other guy could also be holding back a detail for a similar reason. But hey, as long as I get to stay there and don't end up deported or imprisoned, we're good! Whew... Good luck with the continued-hunt today. X)
