There have almost been as many deaths from the tsunami as from all conflicts in history.

65 children sponsored by Australian families through World Vision were killed in Thailand.

I thought that sounded wrong too but as I explained to T (I'm surprised that she didn't pick up on that one too!)above... then my computer died.

I'd believe "as many deaths from the tsunami as Australian deaths from all conflicts in history." A quick Google look says 18,000 in WWII, 8,100 at Gallipoli... so that's probably right.

Anyway... not to be a fussy statistician. The tsunami arrived at the same time as my holiday bonus. What do you know.
