Oh, I usually let this one pass when I'm speaking to non native speakers. I do teach horticultural English skills to Spanish native speakers. I'm complaining about people that speak this way because they either think it is "cool" or really don't have a clue that this is how they are coming across.

Loves me the Taylor Mali. The man's a hero.

And yes, this drives me nuts, too. Admittedly, I have a tendency to add a laugh and 'y'know?" to the end of the occasional phrase, but usually because it's something that's odd, funny, or strange in a "can you believe this" kind of way. Still, it gets me like nails on a chalkboard to have someone end every sentence like a question.

See, that I find endearing! I love to listen to "Local language". Like in the midwest (of the US) there is a phrase that I adore--instead of asking someone if a person can "go with you to the store (or any other place)" they will just ask, "Can/May I go with?"
I love listening to accents as well.
What I'm talking about is something that I feel is a "Whoops. We did something wrong" kind of notion.

I feel the same way when I see men and young men meandering down the street holding their private parts through their clothing.
