Has anyone else noticed?

In areas where hurricanes are a seasonal occurence, none of the homes or businesses have shutters anymore? It was always common in ocean front areas to be able to close in & protect the windows, with heavy wood shutters. You still see them in Maine. Now, all the news footage shows people nailing/screwing up plywood. Why aren't modern constructions ( Read more... )

In Germany, there are these totally fucking awesome roll down metal shutters called (sp) roo-lah-dins. They aren't that expensive really and would be perfect. I love them because they block all light and I love sleeping in a cave.
