i'm so sorry for you and your family for your loss. =/ definitely not what anyone would want anywhere near their birthday... i'm sorry you can't go as well, though i'm sure it's a comfort to your parents, both because of your house and your brother (who i can't believe is already in uni meep!) very hectic.

I personally feel the the passing of an aged-one is not such a terrible thing.
It is a loss, but not so much tinged w/ grief. I hope she has lived a full life, Please feel better, it must be a tad bit sucky for this to fall on your b-day. /hugs
