Got the tomatoes in on Sunday. All cherry tomatoes since they're what grows best on our shady property. -
Bacon makes everything better
My sister sent me a recipe for bacon jam. I made some last night. It's very good - more savory than sweet. I look forward to experimenting with it. She uses it on breakfast sandwiches (toast, egg, and cheese). I tried it on a peanut butter sandwich. -
Back from Costa Rica
There were many great animal sightings, including some good sloths and squirrel monkeys. We also took surfing lessons - lots of fun, but harder work than I expected. -
After the Snowpocalypse
Got lunch at Lambert's today. I haven't been over that way in over a month due to snow piles, narrow roads, and concerns about traffic. Some of the streets I take to get there are two-way, but no longer wide enough for two way traffic. I got stuck behind a student driver inching along at 5 MPH or so. Haven't posted much here lately
I've posted fewer photos here since Picasaweb made it harder (impossible?) to embed photos on other sites, but I'm still posting photos elsewhere. Does anyone know a good tool for updating LJ, Google+, and Facebook all at once? I might post more if I could avoid the drudgery of repeating posts. -
Stone Zoo lynx kitten scouting report
The lynx kittens have been on display since 7/8, but they still spend a lot of their time in the den box. Sue got a glimpse of one kitten. We both saw the mom looking out of the den briefly. We didn't get any lynx photos. A zoo staff member told us they're currently most active before the zoo opens and around 4PM. They expect that will change ( Read more... ) -

Seen on the road - a Chevy Volt!
First time I've seen one in the wild. For a while, they weren't selling them here in MA.
I'm interested in the Volt since it's "true" electric car, but it's also got a gas engine that will recharge the battery if your trip exceeds the battery's range.
