Peter received the letter on university stationary sealed in a NYU envelope. He had no reason to believe it wasn't from Connor. It was simple and to the point: he had a lead on the Goblin and would be meeting him on top of the library roof. The same roof that Harry met Connor on not that long ago, but Peter didn't know those details. He took the letter as a sign that Connor understood they had to the take the Goblin in alive. That he was over his need for vigilante vengeance and realized the best way to help Harry was to turn in the real culprit to the police.
When Peter arrived at the campus he scanned the area for any sign of lingering students or security. Most people were out for the night as was Friday night tradition, and those on campus were either locked in their room studying or at the frat houses partying. He didn't want any innocent bystanders being caught in the crossfire. The last time Peter fought a Goblin little kids, Aunt May, and MJ had been the bait. He was on guard because he knew that when dealing with insane villains, there was always a trap. Aunt May and MJ were safe and sound at Aunt May's house. Harry was safe in the institution, and Connor's family should be in Boston. That left the Goblin with using innocent bystanders. Maybe that was why he chose their college to meet. Of course that would mean he figured out who Connor and Peter are, and Peter wasn't sure that was the case. He obviously knew about Connor because the idiot didn't wear a mask when he went off on his vengeance hunt, but he couldn't know about Peter being Spider-man. That gave them the advantage right?
He easily made his way to the top of the roof and wasn't surprised to find Connor already there. The guy had this need for always being first. Peter was okay with that. He liked to make an entrance anyway. Still Peter couldn't help be irritated with Connor about their previous disagreements. That was why his tone of voice bordered on snarky when he said, "Don't tell me when you sent out invitations to this party you forgot to send one to the guest of honor? Where is our little green friend anyway?"
