That's awesome Pete! The 636 is a really good bike. I'm glad though that you started on something more docile, and then moved up to this. Once you get through break-in, the first time you go right up until redline is awesome. When I did it for the first time on my R6, I was laughing out loud for like 10 minutes afterwards. There is just no describing the rush that you are going to get. Those who've done it know, those who haven't, won't, unless they do it themselves. Let me know how it goes! I know you're way out in Cali, but if you ever have it out east (I'm guessing unlikely), I'd love to go riding with you!
Yeah, I can't wait! I was doing 70 on the highway on the way back, in 6th @ 5500rpm, gave it just a slight twist... 70 -> 110 in a blink! I can't wait to experience the acceleration in the upper end of the power band :)
Getting used to the aggressive riding position wasn't as bad as I thought... at first my wrists were hurting, but I read to grip the tank with my knees more to support myself, and that helped. Now it's just a matter of getting my legs used to the way they sit, which I'm almost done with.
The bad news is that it's supposed to rain for the next 8 days :-(
What year R6 do you have again? You have a custom paint job too, right?
that's an awesome paint job :) already have the frame sliders, and i'm looking at fender eliminators too. mmm, listening to sound clips of sweet exhausts...
