Bah. On many levels.

That's really all I've got. Maybe I'll be more coherent and verbose later. I think I understand the point they were trying to make about the limits of the characters' powers, and that some things can't be changed. I don't understand why they felt the need to sacrifice Charlie to make that point. Just seems like they did nothing but add a cliched plot point, and made a heavy handed point about the fallibility of the mutants/heroes/whatever, when they could have done so much more (and been more original) if they kept the character, y'know, ALIVE. I'd been hoping to see her and Hiro have to work together to figure a way out of the situation that kept the timeline intact, maybe with Hiro having some issues with his powers or something (which could satisfy the "no they're not omnipotent" requirement just fine). But nooooooooooo.
