I bought a new toshiba laptop today and the safety instructions issue this very uselful warning;

"Never drive a nail or any other sharp object into the battery pack, hit battery pack with a hammer or other object or step on it . . ."

It was soooo close..  I had a 6" nail ready and was about to swing the claw hammer when I read that !
