I highly recommend following this link and watching the four YouTube Videos listed there. I know many of you are on slower connections but even so this is worth taking the time to see. It is a study on MSG, the effects and just as importantly where it can be found. The one that killed me was the baby food. Everyone really out to take a few ( Read more... )

I haven't watched all of it yet (not enough time).
But Aspartam is not MSG. (Bells started ringing at Aspartam since I read up a bit on it a few months ago; I drink waaaay to much diet coke after call)
I glanced over a few articles (jsut wikipedia and a few from google) - and from what I can tell, it's something that requires further study, but it's maybe a bit too early to scare people?
I mean, warning people about health dangers is good. But at least in the case of Aspartame, almost all studies have been seriously questioned. But yeah. I sure hope more than one person out there is looking into this.

(and generally, it's a travisty how much stuff is in our food that we just don't know about)

I don't they they were saying that Aspartam is MSG. I think they were saying that Aspartam is an Excitotoxin like MSG that have the same effects on the system. Take a look at this article.

So I went back and rewatched both section 1 and 2 and then did a little poking around the net and from what I'm finding you are correct that the body breaks down Aspartame into a glutamate. Whether it is MSG specifically or the same glutamate that MSG breaks down to like this video says I can't confirm, at least not with the limited amount of time I have at work ( ... )
